Plant and Animal Cell Models 2008 Plant and Animal Cell Models

The class learned about cells, organisms, organs, and organ systems. Students were challenged to build a model of a plant or animal cell and then write a paragraph describing its parts and their functions. Description paragraphs will be added soon. In the meantime, enjoy their very creative and excellent models.

Plant Cells by Ariel

There are many different parts of a plant cell. I am describing the basic parts. The cell wall is the outer structure. It helps the plant cell keep its square shape. It is made up of a type of sugar called cellulose. The cell membrane is what protects the cell. It helps keep all of the cytoplasm inside the cell. The cytoplasm is a liquid that keeps the nucleus, the chloroplast, the mitochondrion, and vacuole in the same spot. It flows in a river-like motion. The chloroplast makes a substance called chlorophyll which gives the leaves its green color. It is also food for plants and it sends this food to the mitochondrion. The mitochondrion receives frood from the chloroplast and turns it into energy for the cell to use. The vacuole stores all of the water and releases it when needed. When you don't water the plant the vacuole uses its stored water and gets smaller. Therefore, the plant wilts. The nuclear membrane protects the nucleus. The nucleus controls the cell. It decides when to die and when to grow or shrink. Those are the basic parts of a plant cell.

Animal Cells by Jonathan

In a cell there are many different objects. The first thing which is important is the nucleus, which controls everything. The nucleus controls and signals other cell parts what to do. The nuclear membrane protects the nucleus. The next thing is the vacuole. The vacuole's job is to store food, water, and waste and release them when signaled. The cytoplasm is a gel-like substance. The cytoplasm's job is to move other objects around the cell. The cell membrane is a layer around the cell. Cell membranes let things in and out of the cell.  Its job is to let things in and out. the mitochondrion has a special job. The mitochondrion's job is to turn food into energy. As you can see, there are many parts in an animal cell.

These are the facts about an animal cells parts. The cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell, cytoplasm holds the cell together, the nuclear membrane protects the nucleus and the nucleolus, the nucleus and nucleolus tell the cell what to do, the centrosome in the digestive system of the cell, the vacuole hold nutrients for the cell, lyosome helps the cell collect nutrients, the mitochondrion turns food into energy.

Animal Cells by Justin

An animal cell is apart of an animal that helps make up the animal. The nucleus controls the cell. The cell membrane is the outer layer of the cell. A vacuole is the part that stores food and water. The mitochondrion breaks down the food for the vacuole. The nuclear membrane is the outer layer of a nucleus. The cytoplasm is a jell like substance that makes the formation of the cell.

Plant Cells by Marry

I did my cell project on plants cells and I made a model of what a plant cell would look like. My cell is made out of green Betty Crocker decorating frosting. The cell wall is the outer protective layer. The chloroplast has chlorophyll witch keeps the plant green. The cell membrane is the inner protective layer that keeps the germs out. A cytoplasm is one of the layers of the cell. A vacuole is what stores food and water. The nucleus is the brain of the cell.

Animal Cells by Jamel

I`m writing about an animal cell, organelles, and how a cell works. So I want to tell you about a nucleus it runs things in the cell. Also about a mitochondrion they break down food so the cell can use it as energy. Vacuoles store food, water, and waste then release it when needed. The cell membrane is the outer wall of a cell. It doesn`t do much. Cytoplasm is a jello-like substance in a cell. It`s like a cell membrane. It doesn`t do much. In conclusion, that`s how a cell works.

Plant Cell by Sarah

These are some facts about a plant cell .The nucleus controls the cell like a brain. The vacuole stores a lot of water because a plant does not always get water .The cell membrane is the outer part of a cell and the cell wall gives a plant cell more protection .Cytoplasm is the base of the cell . The nuclear membrane is around the nucleus which is around the nucleolus . Chloroplasts are a gel like substance.

Animal Cells by Nathalie

There are many things to the animal cell. Read and find out more. There is a nuclear membrane which is the brain. It is what controls the cell. The cell membrane is what protects the cell from the germs getting viruses and germs in. The golgi body is what keeps nutrition in and lets out waste. So now, you know a bit more of the animal cell.

Plant Cells by Vivienne

I did my cell on a plant’s cell. I had a cell wall, a vacuole, a cell membrane, and a nucleus. The cell wall protects the inside of the cell. A cell membrane is the inner protective layer. The vacuole can store food and water. The nucleus is like the controller or brain of one cell. A nucleus can tell when the vacuole needs to release water   or release food. I also put the nuclear membrane and the cytoplasm. The nuclear membrane is a lot like the cell membrane, except that the nuclear membrane protects the nucleus. The cytoplasm is a gel-like liquid inside the cell. Also I put the golgi body lets wastes out and keeps nutrition in. These are the things I put in my plant cell.

Animal Cells by Julian

There are many parts inside an animal cell. The nucleus is the cells brain. The nuclear membrane is an outer layer of the nucleus. The vacuole stores food and water. The cytoplasm is the inside of the cell. The cell membrane is an outer layer of the cell. The centrosome  helps the cell digest food. The lysosome helps the cell collect nutrients. The mitochondrion turns energy into food.

Animal Cells By Rylee

Animal have small things inside them called cells. Cells have many parts inside them. For example, the nucleus is a small circular thing inside the cell. It controls and tells the cell what to do. Animal cells also have a cell membrane. The cell membrane is the outer layer of a cell. Next, there’s the cytoplasm, a gel-like substance that lays  on top of the cell. Then there’s the nucleus membrane ,it protects the nucleus. Also, there is the mitochondrion. It turns food into energy. Finally, there’s the vacuole, it stores food and water for the cell and animal.

Animal Cell by Alyssa

There are many different parts of an animal cell. The cell membrane covers the outside of the cell and lets certain in and out. The cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance that circulates the cell and helps carry out jobs. A vacuole can hold different food, water, and wastes. Lysomes help the cell to collect nutrients. A mitochondrion helps to convert food into energy; there is no limit to how many mitochondria are in one cell. The nuclear membrane covers and protects the all-mighty nucleus. A nucleolus is inside the nucleus and produces RNA. At last, the all-mighty nucleus! The nucleus is the brain of the cell, it tells the cell when to let things in, let things out, to release stored water even when its time for the cell to die. That shows how there are many different parts and jobs to a cell.

The cell wall is the outer layer of the cell. A mitochondrion is used to feed off sunlight and turn it into energy. Cytoplasm is a liquid that does the same as the mitochondrion.  Vacuoles are used to store water from the rain. The cell membrane is a protective layer to keep bad germs out and good ones in the cell. The nuclear membrane is a layer to keep good energy in the nucleus. The nucleus controls the whole cell. Chloroplasts work to keep germs out.

In my animal cell, I did a project on an animal cell. In the outside of my animal cell it is a cell wall which gives it extra protection. My Mitochondria is the part used to digest food. My nuclear membrane was outside my nucleus. The nucleus is a brain of a human, which controls everything in an animal cell. The vacuole is the outside of the animal cell surrounding the parts inside. The chloroplast is a gel like substance in an animal cell.

A nucleus controls all the activity that goes on in the cells. A cell wall is the thick outer layer that protects the cell from waste going inside. The cell membrane is a gel like substance inside the cell. The nuclear membrane protects the nucleus. Vacuoles store water and release water when it is time.

                                                           Animal Cells by Ashim

I have made an animal cell model for a class project. I made a cell membrane. The cell membrane is on the side of the animal cell. The Nuclear Membrane is the surroundings of the nucleus and nucleus. The cytoplasm is the outside of cell. My Nucleus gives signals all around the cell.

My cell project has many different parts to it. For my Vacuole I used some cooking materials to cut the marshmallows. I dipped it in blue food coloring to make it look like what the Vacuole does, because it stores water to use. The Cell Membrane protects the cell. I used licorice and used pieces of it. For the Cell Wall the big pieces of licorice represents the outer layer of the cell. My Rough ER is where I put sour candy because it is rough. The Smooth ER is where it is smooth. My Mitochondrion is purple Laffy Taffy with Nerds on them. The Chloroplast is a Jolly Rancher and a green Tootsie. For the Nuclear Membrane I put another Jolly Rancher. The Nucleus is a big pink Laffy Taffy melted into a circle. In the middle of it is the Nucleus. Finally for the Cytoplasm I put a little pink Laffy Taffy melted into a ball.
